چکیده

Studies of cerebral blood flow and distal intravascular pressure changes were studied in 11 patients at the time of common carotid artery ligation for the treatment of intracranial aneurysm. No neurological deterioration was observed while these patients were under observation. Cerebral blood flow in the ipsilateral hemisphere recovered rapidly while reduction in pressure, and in particular diminution of pulse pressure, persisted affording protection to the aneurysm.

A Lumped Parameter Method to Calculate the Effect of Internal Carotid Artery Occlusion on Anterior Cerebral Artery Pressure Waveform

Background and Objective: Numerical modeling of biological structures would be very helpful tool to analyze hundreds of human body phenomena and also diseases diagnosis. One physiologic phenomenon is blood circulatory system and heart hemodynamic performance that can be simulated by utilizing lumped method. In this study, we can predict hemodynamic behavior of one artery of circulatory system (...

Cerebral blood flow, internal carotid artery pressure, and the EEG as a guide to the safety of carotid ligation.

Twenty patients with aneurysms of the internal carotid artery underwent temporary clamping, in turn, of the internal and then the common carotid artery. Cerebral blood flow, internal carotid artery pressure, and the EEG were recorded to assess the probability of cerebral ischaemia after permanent ligation. With this method of monitoring the cerebral circulation, 17 of the 20 patients had a perm...

Presentation of a Non-invasive Method of Estimating Arterial Stiffness by Modeling Blood Flow and Arterial Wall Based on the Determination of Elastic Module of Arterial Wall

Introduction: Arterial stiffness is an important predictor of cardiovascular risk. Several indices have been  introduced to estimate the arterial stiffness based on the changes in the brachial blood pressure. Since the  substitution  of  the  blood  pressure  changes  in  the  central  arteries  such  as  carotid  with  the  blood  pressure  changes in the brachial results in error in the blood...

Effect of carotid ligation on cerebral blood flow in baboons. I. Response to altered arterial PCO2.

Measurements of cerebral blood flow (CBF) were made in anaesthetized baboons before and after ipsilateral carotid artery ligation and also after bilateral carotid ligation. Results showed that at normocapnia (PaCO(2) 38-39 mmHg) there was little change in cerebral blood flow on ipsilateral carotid ligation, but when both carotid arteries were tied the blood flow to the brain fell significantly....

Cerebral Blood Flow, Metabolism and Mean Arterial Pressure Changes Following Unilateral Internal Carotid Endarterectomy: Cerebral Ischemia and Elevated Systemic Arterial Pressure • Cerebral blood flow and metabolism studies were performed on 13 patients before and after unilateral carotid endarterectomy for severe atheromatous occlusive disease. Mean brachial arterial pressure was monitored dur...
